Welcome back to a new school year! My name is Tarra Barrett & I'm your student's School Counselor at Kila School.
As a School Counselor, I perform the following roles to promote positive development in academic, career, and personal/social domains.
  • Classroom Counseling Lessons
  • Small-Group Counseling
  • Individual Counseling
  • Attend & participate in academic and behavior intervention meetings.
  • Consult & collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators & students.
  • Respond to school crises or emergencies.
  • Provide information & resources to parents on a variety of issues.

​About Me!

I am born and raised in rural Montana. I consider myself an adventurous person and love to explore our beautiful state of Montana. I love anything outdoors and spend most of my summers hiking, & kayaking. I also find comfort in reading books, watching baseball, and spending time with my family. I grew up in the Flathead Valley and I'm happy to be close to family. My husband, from Helena, owns a photography business in Kalispell, so during the summer months, I assist with capturing beautiful weddings with him. 

My Education

I graduated with my B.S in Health and Human Development from Montana State University in 2016. I worked for the non-profit Help Center Inc. in Bozeman to assist families & children throughout the state of Montana. I then graduated with my M.Ed in School Counseling in 2021 from MSU. Go Bobcats! I assisted families and children for 5 years before moving to Kalispell to follow my dream of becoming a school counselor. As a school counselor my passion includes providing a safe space for all students. Our mission at Kila School is Every Kid. Every Day, meaning we strive to create a supportive culture within our school. ​
